MTF

This test measures resolution as a whole (camera, lens and firmware). Test is performed shooting a standard ISO 12233 target with this settings: lowest possible sensibility (ISO), minimum and maximum focal length at various lens apertures.

This pictures are then analyzed by Imatest software, that gives the correct resolution value.
For more informations on how this test is performed and how the software works you can go at this address:

Results:

Dynax 7D using this lens, has its maximum resolution at minimum focal length (17 mm). Lens together with camera, have their optimal working range from f/2.8 to f/10 at 17 mm, and from f/9 to f/14 at 35 mm.

OVERSHARPENING

This test measures the pictures sharpness. Sharpness is the clarity of detail in a photograph. Test is performed shooting a standard ISO 12233 target with this settings: lowest possible ISO sensibility, minimum and maximum focal length at various lens apertures. This pictures are then analyzed by Imatest software, that gives a sharpness value calculated in percentage comparing it with an ideal value calculated by a formula.
For more informations on how this test is performed and how the software works you can go at this address: http://www.imatest.com/docs/sharpening.html

Results:

Results says Dynax 7D lens up to f/14 aperture has a high value of sharpness at 17 mm, while at 35 mm up to f/16 has a substantially correct value. For aperture's higher values, at both 17 and 35 mm, sharpness decreases quickly.
